MISSION STATEMENT


THE MISSION OF THE COAL CREEK WATERSHED COALITION IS TO MAINTAIN, RESTORE AND ENHANCE THE ENVIRONMENTAL INTEGRITY OF CRESTED BUTTE'S LOCAL WATERSHEDS TO ENSURE THOSE LOCAL WATERSHEDS AND HABITATS ARE OF THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE QUALITY NECESSARY TO SUPPORT WILDLIFE, AQUATIC LIFE, AND HUMAN LIFE.

MEET OUR WATERSHEDS

COAL CREEK

The Coal Creek Watershed covers 24 square miles and flows into the Slate River.
Coal Creek itself serves as the primary municipal water source for the Town of Crested Butte.

UPPER SLATE RIVER

The Upper Slate River Watershed drains an area approximately 34 square miles in size. The primary land use in the Watershed is recreation, occurring year-round.

WASHINGTON GULCH

Washington Gulch Watershed covers 14.5 square miles and flows into the Slate River. Both recreation and  agricultural uses occur in the Watershed, and CCWC is currently working on a watershed plan.

CCWC MEETINGS


Board of Directors Meetings
Board of Director meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday at 2:00.

Technical Committee Meetings
Technical Committee Meetings are held every other month (even-numbered months) and scheduled individually.

All CCWC meetings are open to the public.

As of October 2020 all CCWC meetings are being hosted virtually. For more information, or if you would like to attend one of our virtual meetings please Email director@coalcreek.org
