FIELD TECHNITIAN & ADMINISTRATIVE aSSISTANT

​We are looking for a science-minded and detail-oriented professional to help lead our water quality sampling programs and handle administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science or similar science background along with 2-3 years of relevant work experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Field Technician Responsibilities:

● Lead water quality sample events in the Coal Creek Watershed: this task includes event planning, volunteer recruitment, sample collection, and data entry.
● Assist with restoration planning: this task includes collaborating with project partners to prepare grant applications and collect and assess data to support restoration design.
● Assist with other water quality and environmental sample collection as directed by the CCWC board of directors

Administrative Assistant Responsibilities
● Help CCWC staff to prepare semi-annual newsletters. Maintain and build CCWC’s mailing list.
● Prepare agendas, take notes, and follow-up on assignments from board and technical committee 
meetings. This task requires attention to detail and communication with several people affiliated 
with CCWC.
● Update the CCWC website (www.coalcreek.org), manage emails, and other communication tasks.
● Work with the board of directors to develop fundraising events.

Additional Details
The position is part-time and will last for one year. The successful applicant will work closely with 
CCWC’s executive director and board of directors. The position is a 1099 contract position (i.e., the 
contractor is responsible for payroll and income taxes) that does not include benefits. The compensation is $35-40 per hour, depending on experience, plus selected expenses. The one-year contract includes approximately 500 hours of work. 

Sample collection events and meetings are on a fixed schedule (M-F, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm) and the contractor must be available to attend. Other work, including data analysis, reporting, and administrative activities, will be completed based on the project schedule but the specific work times will be determined by the contractor. If the applicant is successful during the first year, the contract may be extended. Ideally, CCWC will develop a long-term relationship with the contractor.
